Who we are (Data Controller)
Legal business name of the seller and data controller: Claim Confidence. Claim Confidence is the operator of this website and subscription platform, and is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service. Information we collect
- Account information — name, email address, password (hashed), and profile details you provide.
- Usage information — lessons viewed, progress, saved items, check-ins, and Filing Journey stage.
- Support communications — messages you send us and our replies.
- Device and log data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, referring URLs, and timestamps, collected automatically.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see "Cookies" below.
Payment information (card details, billing address, tax location) is collected and processed directly by our payment provider, Paddle, acting as Merchant of Record. We do not receive or store your full card number. We receive limited transaction metadata (e.g., subscription status, plan, renewal date, last four digits) to service your account.
How we use information and legal bases
Where applicable law (such as UK/EU GDPR) requires a legal basis, we rely on the following:
- Provide the service — creating your account, delivering lessons, tracking progress. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Billing and subscription management — via Paddle. Legal basis: performance of a contract and legal obligation.
- Security, fraud prevention, and service integrity. Legal basis: legitimate interests and legal obligation.
- Customer support. Legal basis: performance of a contract and legitimate interests.
- Product improvement and aggregate analytics. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Marketing emails (only if you opt in). Legal basis: consent — you can withdraw at any time.
- Compliance with law. Legal basis: legal obligation.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle") — our reseller and Merchant of Record for all orders. Paddle processes payments, manages subscriptions, handles taxes, invoicing, chargebacks, and customer service inquiries related to billing. See Paddle's Privacy Notice.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that operate the platform on our behalf.
- Email delivery and analytics providers used to send transactional emails and understand aggregate usage.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where necessary.
- Authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- Successor entities in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where applicable, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
Data retention
- Account and profile data — retained while your account is active and for up to 24 months after account closure, then deleted or anonymized.
- Learning progress and check-ins — same as account data.
- Billing and transaction records — retained by us and by Paddle for up to 7 years to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations.
- Support communications — up to 3 years after the last interaction.
- Server logs and analytics — typically up to 13 months, then aggregated or deleted.
We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed for the purposes above.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Receive a portable copy of information you provided to us.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
